Colloquy - IRC Client App Reviews

Try to lock your device or multitask at all and youll see this message a lot. Would be a fine app otherwise!

In general, I love this app. Its working fine on my iPhone, but on my iPad I cant see what Ive written and sent. I can see everyone else, but not my own commentary.

I use Colloquy on my laptop so I decided to download it for my phone too. It worked great at first. Easy to set up and use. I got sidetracked on another app for 5 minutes or so, came back to Colloquy and I was disconnected from my room. Hit Join and it sits there with the spinning wheel in the top bar like something is actually working. Five minutes later, still sitting. I had to totally delete my whole connection I set up and re-set it up. Once again I was able to connect. I decided to manually disconnect and try to rejoin to see if the same thing would happen and sure enough it did. I hit Join and it just sits there doing nothing. Please fix this. With this type of bug it is definitely not worth the $1.99 I spent.

Not working well for me. The program layout is a little convoluted. If it worked consistently I think this would be a great little app. Disappointed.

Currently I can not get to freenode because I have to identify via SASL. Until this gets fixed it is a waste of money. If it gets fixed then I will edit this.

I am having reproducible crashes every time I close a session (Nickserv, console, whatever) to an active IRC connection. Also, I cannot get user info queries to work properly, either. I haven’t had time to check everything, but this new update seems to need some quality assurance work, at least on iPad Pro.

This is becoming a joke. Every time they update this app they break something else. Now it is hiding the first few lines of each room or chat window. Also, random app crashes are back. I really hate to be down on people, but honestly if you can not test the little stuff, dont do the update.

Sidebar still doesnt update with new posts in PVT messages . There is some Wierd thing going on where you cant get info on chatters, and when you touch the user info, it turns on ignore, which wont turn off. Thank you for fixing the keyboard over the text issue. Still a nightmare, but getting there Now some users show up as offline when you get there user info, and you cant send them a message

Coyote has it right!!! Its not fair that we pay for this and then your updates make it UNUSABLE! Fix it get off your butt and fix it!

I can log in but I cant Whois people or message them because the client thinks they are offline even when I see them chatting right in front of me!!! On iPad Pro and iPhone 6s Plus ! BROKEN APP

Update: Wish user names were different colors. So for now Machine X is my first choice IRC client.

UPDATE: instead of fixing the problems below, theyve added back the "text hidden behind text entry field" bug, plus the supposedly-fixed offline bug is simply not fixed at all. Yet another update that made everything worse not better. If they could somehow simply re-release 1.8.5, that would help. Everything since has been progressively worse. And the "help" website doesnt appear to be staffed. UPDATE: New version, new bugs. Does anyone test this app before releasing it? Cannot send pms, only receive them - it thinks everyone is offline even when theyre not. Unreal. My fault for updating, this app has a history of updates that do more harm than good, hopefully this new bug will be addressed eventually, but Im starting to wonder. Developer seems disinterested. ... After nearly a year of aggravation and multiple bug fixes they do seem to have it fixed at last with 1.8.5, at least as far as the issues Ive seen. Its back to where it was two years ago, and thats a good thing. Best IRC app Ive tried. Now ... Im begging you ... please please please test future updates before you release them?

This app should be pulled or scrapped and start over. A simple telnet client works better than trying to get this piece to work. At least telnet doesnt crash every time you try to load the app. Please fix or refund my $.
