Colloquy - IRC Client App Reviews

It does everything an IRC client should do, but there are 2 bugs that have persisted across many versions: When you set an action for Single Swipe in advanced interface options, it doesnt save if you close the program. You have to set it up every time. Links to YouTube.com are not clickable from colloquy. You have to manually hilight, copy, and paste them into safari.

An unstable stable piece of software whose current update completely neuters it. You can no longer swipe to close conversations without the program crashing. The conversation doesnt close either. Every line of a conversation opens a new window in the app. Rapidly using up memory. Close to useless.

Recent version is making a mess of the app A) each pm opens a new window then it freezes B) at one point moving from channels or pm from the main window becomes impossible. It highlights but thats it. You have to restart the app! The main window is where the different servers are listed along with the open channels. C) some times when I want to add a channel it goes through the process but then when I press "done" the channels are not showing. For sometime now I have the feeling the app is getting worse not better with new revisions!!!!! Fix it!

I use over IRC Proxy.

Something is wrong with font size and style. After one of last updates it became larger(inspite of smallest setting). Using ios7 5s. Changing size doesnt work. Style is also irrelevant

Text input field is always hidden under the keyboard. In any dialogs. Even in settings. Too sad for me.

generally ok but there are 3 problems with /whois: 1) raw ok but after ultimate update = if click username on nicklist no Whois option. It is frustate. 2) is it possible raw mode command not open dialog. Whit /whois nick nick its open graphical. 3) if dialog necessarely can you add option for look @ in whois dialog. THANKS. its a base of irc client!

This app used to be pretty good for me. But recently it seems every update just makes it worse. Nowadays, it wont let me pm people that are online because theyre offline. I will not be using this app in the future if the app keeps doing this.

This software almost never will connect to any of the servers. When it does it wont stay connected. Each time it disconnects you have to either restart your phone or in some cases can toggle airplane off for about 30 seconds and then back on. Im now using Mutter and it connects and stays connected. This software is just pure junk!

Get Palaver instead. Ive had Collloquy for a few years now, and it has sadly gone downhill. At the moment, it thinks random people who have signed off are still in the channel list, has duplicates when they sign off and come back, cant tell if someone is online or offline in a /Whois and even refuses to send /msg or /query messages to people who are clearly online and messaging YOU. Just avoid it now, folks. Get anything else. I went with Palaver, but something else might work for you. At least Palaver seems to be semi-regularly updated and it WORKS fairly consistently.

Unbelievable. I just got an update that said something had been fixed, the app was blowing up, which it was. And now every time someone sends me a message, a new message window is spawned! So over time one person will have five, six, seven, eight, nine… Windows, a new window with every message! Whoever wrote this needs to learn to program.

Are you kidding me? What did you fix? Now every time someone replies to a Pvt message, it opens a new window, so instead of a conversation, you have multiple windows open for every reply. People still appear offline when they are online. And it crashes without warning very often still. Every time you " fix " something you break something else. App is a joke

This thing behave like no IRC app Ive ever seen. Many many windows. Multiple chat windows open for very message received. The message list get huge immediately and but wont scroll so you can see them all. Something is seriously wrong with this app and its mind blowing that it ever made it to production in this state. Very disappointing showing from the folks who make such a useful and great desktop app.

With the newest version, the app is unusably broken. Every time someone sends you a message, it opens in a new window (even if you already have a message window open for that user). You end up with a ton of messages open if you try to have a message conversation with anyone. Ugh.

Same problem as MANY other users. every message is a new window :(
